Wine #3 Descendientes de j. Palacios, 2006 Petalos del Bierzo (Spain)
The 2006 Petalos del Bierzo is purple-colored with a fragrant nose of violets, lavender, mulberry, and blueberry.
Ripe, supple, and sweetly fruited, it will evolve for 2-3 years and drink well through 2015.
This estate was started in 1998 by Alvaro Palacios. It has steep hillside vineyards and 60- to 100-year-old vines
planted in 100% Mencia, a varietal indigenous to Bierzo, a cool-climate D.O. Rated "91" The Wine Advocate, Robert Parker
Wine #4 La Posta 2006 Bonarda (Argentina)
The 2006 Bonarda was sourced from the 44 year old Estela Armando Vineyard, and was aged for 10 months in 70% French and 30% American oak, 20% new. Deep crimson-colored, the wine is fruity and fragrant with notes of cedar, spice box, red and black raspberries. Medium-bodied, on the palate notes of pepper, chocolate, and mint emerge. Ripe and tasty with gobs of flavor, this hedonistic and well-priced effort can be enjoyed over the next 5 years. All four of the La Posta wines are outstanding values.
Rated "89"Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate $16.99

Wine #5 Chateau Coupe Roses Minervois, 2005 (France)
Françoise Le Calvez and her enologist husband Pascal Frissant work their domaine with passion and acumen high in the Mediterranean hinterlands, a wild, remote land rich in history. They are active members of the lutte raisonnée organization, farming as organically as possible. There are four red cuvées. Bastide, an intense mouthful of mountain Grenache and Carignan cut with a touch of Syrah, is simply a great buy. $13.99
